The Ex-Bombers header - Thee sinister psychedelic blues duo was established in 2010.

“The Tightwire”

The debut album by The Ex-Bombers that can only be described as dirtbag spy jazz or punk for beatniks.

The duo filled this LP with seedy vocals, an octaved 8-string bass / drums, and a pile of dark and catchy songs in the vein of the flippant sounds of early Velvet Underground / Sonic Youth with the style of Soft Cell / Girls Against Boys.

The songs reflect the awkward years of adulthood when the hangovers last two days instead of one. This critically-acclaimed record is required listening for any Black Sabbath after party or in the powder room of the Warhol Factory.

(2012 / Vinyl LP / Monophonic)

Selected Press for "The Tightwire"

“The music itself is something that can only be defined as beatnik punk. Its cool grooves and film noir atmosphere complement the paranoia and jadedness of the lyrics creating something unique yet familiar. The Ex-Bombers have created a great piece of art.” (Eleven Magazine)

“The disc is strong, 10 cuts of seedy jazz basslines, noisy punk spirit and winking lyrics… Having been recorded on analogue equipment using no effects, the songs, including highlights like the seedy title track or the laid back disenchantment of 'Happening Thing,' ... filter pseudo spy story intrigue through an absurdist Stephen Malkmus-esque lens (through) dynamic jazz-meets-garage rock tunes” (Shepherd Express) “The record is most definitely best heard in one continuous sit-down and it draws you to that effortlessly. The smoky, dimly lit, old-jazz-bar-turned-underground-coffee-shop vibe (and) the songs as a whole carry an immense presence, drawing upon inspirations from Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth and the like.” (Nanobot Rock Reviews)

“This album is very live and it is beautifully human. It grooves. It is sexy. It has the underlying current of intensity that surfaces in all the right places. It is strange. It is insanely clever. ‘Sexy Interrogation’ could easily be in the running for song of the year. Yes, it’s that good.” (Rows of Teeth)
